Our Story

Partners in all things, Peter & Georgia Riccobono have been creating joyful memories for friends, family & neighbors through their love of good food done well.

With over 50 years of combined experience, our team can help you execute any event big or small whether you're planning a birthday party, wedding, corporate event or anything in between.

A graduate of Johnson & Wales, Peter began his culinary career as the Executive Chef of La Gondola a staple of Trenton, NJ.  His tenure at the restaurant earned him his first 3 star rating and a promotion to Jericho National Country Club where he oversaw two restaurants and a large scale catering facility.  From there, he joined Compass Group, USA and has spent the last fifteen years overseeing major clients and events for the premier corporate food service group.

His resume includes executing events for the Kennedy Center, United States House of Representatives & Senate, World Bank, the Hirshhorn Museum and more.  His major accounts included The Smithsonian, the Corporate Executive Board, Capital One & Carmax headquarters.

Georgia's experience in retail and foodservice began during her teenage years while following her father up and down I-95 summer after summer working in fast casual food service to earn money for college. After earning her BS in Business Administration and completing her MBA her career focus was on catering and special event planning.  She held positions as a corporate meeting planner, hotel catering specialist and spent the last ten years of her career as a Team Leader for Whole Foods Market managing the Prepared Foods department for several locations before becoming a stay at home mom.

Both Peter & Georgia find being tied to the community through volunteering an integral part of who they are. Georgia serves as the President of the PTO for their son's school and Peter is the Kitchen Manager for Saint Benedict Catholic Church's annual Oktoberfest celebration.

Family Ties

Polpetti Market & Catering has been a dream almost a century in the making.

Peter's rich family history and Italian heritage spans the globe from Puglia, Sicily and Calabria to Brooklyn and has now taken root here in Richmond, VA.

The Riccobono tradition of fine Italian foods began when their great grandfather Portobello immigrated from Puglia and opened his restaurant El Dorado on West 37th Street in New York City with the $12,000 he saved to make his dream come true.

Three generations worked in the restaurant bringing full bellies and smiles to everyone who entered. Patrons were much more than customers, they were family. It was here that Peter's father, Vinny learned the family secrets and traditions that he later passed onto Peter and his siblings.  It's not a surprise that 3 out of Vinny's 6 children all went on to become professional Chefs.

It is from these cherished memories, traditions and handed down recipes that Peter & Georgia draw their inspiration and desire to share them with RVA.
